¶ Graduate Student Applications and Admission Process (SLATE)
SLATE is the Graduate Student Application Portal utilized by WPI.
WPI has rolling admissions, which means we accept and review applications at all times. However, there are a few rules and deadlines to keep in mind:
- Applicants who want to be considered for funding for fall entry terms are asked to apply by January 1st
- Applicants who want to be considered for funding for spring entry terms are asked to apply by October 1st
- Applicants who apply before January 1st for a fall term must receive a decision by April 15th, per WPI’s agreement with the Council of Graduate Schools
Outside of those rules, there are some common practices that Graduate Admissions follows:
- Applications should be reviewed within 6-10 weeks of the time that they are completed
- The application for a given term will be turned off 1-2 weeks prior to add/drop for that term, so no new applications can be submitted
- All decisions for a given term should be submitted prior to the add/drop period for that term, so students can enroll in courses
- PhD student applications are assigned to two research faculty members for acceptance consideration.
- MS student applications are assigned to one member of the Graduate Admissions committee.
